Thought for the week: Practice Makes Permanent
The common phrase; ‘Practice makes perfect.’ But is there really such a thing as perfect? After all, you can always improve. Even the world’s best can get better. In the week, we spoke about how Cristiano Ronaldo went away after a season with Manchester United and studied the production of the Nike Premier League football so he knew exactly where to strike the ball in order to create swerve and dip. When we look at the players on the summer course, we look at those trying to get better. Which is why we say that, ‘practice doesn’t make perfect, but it makes permanent.’
At the start of the week, we pointed out one area that we felt could be improved upon by everyone: Using their weaker foot. This is why our Friday penalty shootout competition was a weak foot penalty shootout. It was clear to see who had practiced and who hadn’t, however the best thing was EVERYONE had a go. That’s the first lesson when practising; don’t be afraid to have a go.
Tom Betts was awarded Charlie and Alex’s Player of the Week. Tom always has a smile on his face and is always looking to improve, constantly practising with a ball. Aamir Khan was another Player of the Week earner. Aamir improves every time he comes on the course, working as hard as anyone, whilst always displaying that big smile. The top group had two Player of the Week’s, voted by the fellow players. Alfie Price and James Falco both made an impression to the coaches and their teammates.
The Top Funster award went to Lauren Falco. As well as displaying the characteristics of an ideal student, Lauren was also recognised by her fellow players, who gave the coaches reasons for why she should earn the award. Among the reasons were; she is nice and helpful whilst also working hard and improving on the pitch.
Well done to everyone on the course! You made the week thoroughly enjoyable.
