Thought for the Week: Winners NEVER quit and quitters NEVER win.
It's all about taking part. You have to be IN it to WIN it.
Naturally as human beings, we want to win. Whether it is a competition in a school classroom or a football match; striving to beat the others around us is a part of our genetic makeup that we cannot remove. However, how do you win? And if you do, in what manner do you do it?
Here at Football For Fun, one of our major philosophies is: Play to Learn, Learn to Play. You take part in football as a youngster in order to have fun but also develop. Winning is a bonus that everyone wants to achieve but you must achieve it by having fun and by developing at the same time. And you won’t always win, but that shouldn’t hinder your development or the amount of fun you have. You can only guarantee that however, if you are taking part.
And the spirit of taking part, not sulking during defeat and aiming to become better players appropriately describes those who earned the Player of the Week and Top Funster awards during Half Term week at FFF.
Jake O’Toole is constantly working hard whilst on the football pitch, yet understands that rest time during lunch is vital. Aamir Khan has improved immensely since first attending FFF and now sets an example to the rest in the group whilst Jack Hilaire has the attitude of constantly wanting to improve. He plays in the older age groups in order to challenge his wonderful technical ability.
Cai Gunning was awarded our coveted Top Funster trophy on his first week of attending the course. Not only is his attitude a perfect example to fellow players, his never give up attitude on the pitch confirms that he will improve and improve. He is not afraid to play in any position and even battled through blisters on world cup day to help his team out.
As always well done to everyone who attended the course this week. You once again made deciding the trophy earners incredibly difficult!
