Sometimes you don’t always get your way! Can you deal with it?
When someone complains about the team they’re on, or even complains about the bib colour they are wearing, the coaches often mutter the same expression: “Can you deal with it?”
The moral of this message is that in life you don’t always get what you want, so why will you always get your way playing football? We understand that players want to play with their friends, or want to play with the strongest players, but we also want you to face a challenge. After all, if you always pick the strongest players on your team, how are you going to improve? If you always get a free kick awarded when you want to have one, or always play in the same position, how will you react one day in the future when, all of a sudden, you don’t get what you want?
And we look for this in players when deciding who has earned the Player of the Week and Top Funster awards. Who has gone on whatever team they want without complaining? Who has got up after being fouled and got on with the situation? Who has challenged themselves by going against some of the better individuals rather than going with them?
And in truth it was a fantastic week with a group who could have all earned the trophies for one thing or another. However, our deserved earners all stood out to the coaches for their good attitudes as well as their ability to deal with whatever situation was thrown at them. So well done to Player of the Week’s Ayan (who at only seven took on the principle of ‘can you deal with it’ and questioned why one member of his group was upset before then finding a solution to the problem), Varun, Ronnie and Phillip.
Our Top Funster award went to Evan Stanton who stood out to the coaches this week. Evan is polite, kind and a perfect role model to the rest of the players on the course because of his superb attributes. On the pitch he always works hard and never complains, whilst off it he is the best example for members of the younger group to look up to.
It’s been a fantastic week so well done to everyone who took part, and we’ll see you all again come the summer.
