Thought for the week:
‘It’s nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.’
The thought of the week is a quality that all the Player of the Week and Top Funster winners have shown to earn their prizes. Sometimes, you don’t always get what you want and the centre of attention isn’t always placed on you, and that is why every so often, feeling like you are the centre of attention is a great feeling. However, when we decide at the end of the week, who to pick for the top awards, very often we look to the players who ‘go under the radar.’ In other words; the players who always act in the same manner regardless of whether they get what they want or whether they are the centre of attention. Players who are naturally helpful. They don’t help others because they want to claim the top prize, but because that is just the way they are.
The seven award winners over the last two courses have all demonstrated the above qualities. They rarely sulk, and they always help others. They more often than not have a smile on their face and even if things aren’t going their way, because their team is losing or they miss out in a competition. They never give up, they just keep on trying.
So congratulations to the Player of the Week Winners on week one. Milo Denmark always helpful whether towards the coaches or fellow players. Cameron Titus who ALWAYS has a smile on his face and Aryan Sareen who is a role model to everybody on the field because of his mature attitude and behaviour.
The Top Funster award went to Lewis Galley. Lewis is one of those who goes about his business ‘under the radar.’ A very good footballer, but more importantly he is friendly, helpful and has very mature attitude for one so young.
In week 2, Nancy Pierre earned the Player of the Week award. In her first ever week on a Football For Fun course, she fitted in like she has been a regular for many years. Another who’s attitude extends beyond thinking about herself. Charlie Elliott also picked up the award because of his mature attitude. A very good footballer, but the way he looked after his younger brother Sam was particularly impressive.
For the second week, Ellis Sandison earned the Top Funster prize. Another who always has a smile on his face and always shows considerable care towards his fellow players.
As always, these weren’t the only seven who impressed and showed these qualities. Many others made picking the award earners the hardest part of the week.
